Working with Career Changers…Coaching & Résumé Writing Strategies

Two-part webinar series with Vered Kogan, Career Strategist and Executive Coach and Beth Colley, Chief Career Strategist of Chesapeake Career Management Services

Part I Oct. 27, 2017, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. EST

Part II Nov. 3, 2017, 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. EST

Do you find working with career changers complicated and complex? Do you dread the idea of having to create several résumés for a client who doesn’t know what he wants to do? Working with professionals who are seeking a major career change is often a complex process that requires a combination of skills utilizing both career coaching and résumé writing techniques. Avoiding the coaching step can potentially prolong your client’s job search and your writing project, and also cause frustration for both parties. On the other hand, knowing how to guide career changers through this process can be rewarding, energizing, and fun.

Join us for this two-part webinar on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3, where we will present the big-picture-journey of guiding a career changer through the stages of career exploration, résumé and career document development, job search, and job acquisition.

Part I on Oct. 27 will focus on:

  • „ Categories and nuances of working with different types of career changers.
  • „ Self-assessment and self-reflection with the client, emphasizing career values and motivators.
  • „ How to utilize formal and informal assessments, questionnaires, and resources.
  • „ How to motivate a client to conduct self-directed research of occupations and industries.

Part II on Nov. 3 will focus on:

  • „ Common barriers to changing careers.
  • „ Formulating writing strategies for career changers.
  • „ Setting goals and realistic expectations.
  • „ Presenting, explaining, and defending some sample résumés and other career documents written for career changers.
  • „ Interview tips for career changers.
